Terms and Conditions:
1. Paying for the removal:
- We require 50% of the total amount to be paid at least 48 hours prio the removal date
- Name and surname or company name must be used as reference when making payment
- Your move is only a confirmed booking once your deposit is received with proof of payment
- Unless another arrangement has been made - the balance must be paid in cash of cheque before offloading - the driver will have a tax invoice as a receipt
- Failing to do so will result in your goods being brought back to our storage depot until the outstanding balance has been paid and cleared into our account
- Your goods will be re-delivered at a date and time convenient for Bettermoves and a re-delivery fee will be charged
- For your convenience, we now accept credit card payments - kindly complete the credit card authority form and return
2. Our quotation is based on removal, packing, insurance, storage and re-delivery shown as a separate line item on the quote
We may change the quotation if:
- Extra goods are removed or stored which were not viewed or listed
- We have to collect or deliver above second floor and are not notified beforehand
- We supply extra services at your request on the day of the move
- The road or access is unsuitable for our vehicles and we need to send a bakkie shuttle which we were not notified of beforehand
In all the above circumstances you agree to pay extra charges
3. Your responsibility during removals
- Ensure nothing is taken in error of left behind on move day
- Take responsibility for security of your goods at departure and destination points, by being present or appointing a representative
- Stabilise appliances or electronic equipment prior to the removal
4. What is excluded from this contract
- Transport or storage of jewellery, watches, precious stones, money securities, fire arms, keys, collections of any sort and explosive items
- Refrigerated or frozen food
- Pot plants or any other heavy object which require 8 men or more to lift
5. Ownership of goods
By entering into this contract you warrant that:
- The goods to be removed are your own property
- You will indemnify us in respect of any damages and / or costs against us if this warranty is not true
6. Cancellation
- Cancellation / Postponement must be done at least three working day prior to the removal, otherwise a 30% fee will be levied
- Cancellations / Postponements must be done in writing - no telephonic cancellations / postponements will be accepted
7. We shall not be liable for loss or damage to
- Wear, tear, leakage or climatic changes
- Any goods not packed by us
- Items left inside cupboards and other furniture
- Plants
- Fixtures, fittings, doors or property as a result of difficult access
8. Our right to hold goods
- We have the legal right to withold some or all the goods until you have paid all charges under this contract
- You will be liable to pay storage charges and costs incurred while we are withholding your goods
9. List of Goods (Inventory)
If a list of goods or receipt of them is given, it will be final unless you specify on the inventory of missing items
You may not make a claim for an item not on our inventory
- All goods to be transported must be listed on the inventory list
- Any changes to the inventory list be done in writing
- Final inventory list must be confirmed 48 hours prior to the removal
- No changes in the inventory list will be accepted on the day of the removal as time schedules, size trucks, etc all depends on the inventory list
- All changes to the inventory list will have cost implications
10. Insurance:
Three types of insurance options are availalble:
1) All Risk Insurance Cover:
Covers - overturning, hi-jacking, collision, explosion, breakages and damages.
The premium is calculated @ 2.5% of the total replacement value of the goods (Excl. VAT) once off.
2) In-Transit Insurance Cover:
Covers - overturning, hi-jacking, collision and explosion.
The premium is calculated @ 1.5% of the total replacement value of the goods (Excl. VAT) once off.
3) Storage Insurance Cover:
Covers - fire, storm, theft and riot related damages.
The premium is calculated @ 0.45% of the total replacement value of the goods (Excl. VAT) per month on top of your montly storage fees
- The excess for the above insurance options are set at R2 000.00 (Excl. VAT)
- The insurance cover is not effective until the premium has been paid in full
- If boxes are packed by you and insurance for All Risk requested, max claim is R250.00 per box if lost or damaged
- If boxes are packed by us and insurance for All Risk requested, max claim is R500.00 per box if lost or damaged
- In-Transit insurance cover does not entertain claims for lot or damaged boxes or any breakages or damages on furniture
- You are to notify us in writing WITHIN 7 DAYS OF DELIVERY OF GOODS
We also have a furniture protection package called the BMI5000 which will provide you with a maximum cover of
R5 000.00 for a once of premium of R300.00 (Excl. VAT) for any breakages or damages. This cover also doesn't have an excess.
Please note that if you refrain from taking out Insurance, Bettermoves will not be held liable for any loss, damages or breakages of your goods whilst in our storage facilities or whilst moving your goods from collection to delivery.
11. Arrival Times
- All times given are estimated times and may vary
- All our trucks are under constant satelite tracking and you will be notified of any delays in advance
